Title: "Intelligent Closed-loop Infusion System Enhances Therapy - HIS, Barcode, SmartPump Bidirectional Intelligent Closed-loop Infusion System”

In the past, in chemotherapy administration process, to ensure accuracy medication, each key step required independent verification by medical staff, including patient identification, medication verification, infusion pump setting for total volume, infusion time, and confirmation of infusion rate, which not only consumed a considerable amount of manpower and time but also could not guarantee zero errors.

Therefore, Changhua Christian Hospital Medical Center formed a cross-departmental project composed of Department of Pharmacy, Nursing Department, Medical Engineering Department, and Information Department to successfully develop a bidirectional transmission infusion pump closed-loop intelligent system. This system integrates precise medication process of prescription system, barcode medication administration, and smart pump, directly importing infusion information from the prescription without manual setting by medical staff. The system monitors entire infusion process, enhances identification of patients, medications, doses, times, and routes during administration, ensuring patient medication safety.

Since implementation of bidirectional intelligent closed-loop infusion system, the prescription system actively transmits infusion information, which, after confirmation by medical staff, is initiated without human errors, effectively reducing manual errors and improving work efficiency. This allows medical staff to have more time to care for patients and ensures correct and safe medication administration for patients.

Use of the intelligent closed-loop infusion system in chemotherapy process is a pioneering nationwide. As a result, the intelligent infusion pump not only received recognition from Joint Commission of Taiwan (JCT) on Hospital Accreditation for smart healthcare but also obtained a new patent from Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of China. Additionally, the intelligent closed-loop infusion system has been awarded National Quality Label, significantly reducing risks during chemotherapy process and enhancing medication safety.
